How to Treat a Temple Headache

The temple headache can be a truly painful experience, as the temples of your head are generally tender areas anyway and are certainly much more so with a temple headache involved. Nearly any type of headache can lead to pain in the temples, although if you have never experienced a headache before and you have no idea of what may have caused it, you may want to consult a doctor, as this could be the sign of a more serious underlying problem than a simple headache. Nevertheless, most headaches are nothing more than just a normal, run of the mill headache that will eventually go away on its own. There is no cause for alarm if you get this type of headache often, and you should use whatever method to treat it that you feel is appropriate.

Most commonly, a headache will arise from one of two things. The first general cause is attributed to a regular headache or a migraine headache. In either of these two cases, the blood vessels in your head change their shape and either expand or constrict in an unhealthy manor. This, then, causes your temple headache to arise seemingly without cause. If you can isolate the cause or situation which causes this type of headache, you will be able to prevent them much more easily. Treatment of this type of temple headache generally consists of your favorite pain reliever coupled with a short nap (if possible).

Secondly, you can get a temple headache if you manage to ram your head into something. Generally speaking, blows to the head are one of the leading causes of temple headaches, so be sure to be more careful when you move around in tight, cramped areas with plenty of places to whack your head into something. Treatment for these types of temple headaches is much like above, although you may want to see a doctor if you feel you could have a concussion.
